I feel like it needs work. Maybe I should free hand it first. The computer is not agreeing with me today.
At least it’s a start…
I feel like being a tad snarky today, but that just won’t do. It’s sunny, the air smells wonderful, and we are moving to a homey new place in less than a week! Maybe it’s the boys being on their way but I didn’t mind even a little that my new work was not well received by my job. I have been on a roll designing textiles and stencils. I have had a burst of fresh air now that spring is finally here! I feel inspired and frankly it felt to good to paint new pieces by me. Original work! Not a copy! See, just saying the word “original” out loud feels good
Today I’m going to take a stab at designing a lotus stencil for our new living room!
wish me luck*
Spring is finally here and all you want to do is get a fresh start on the house. You’ve finished spring cleaning and realize you need a change of pace. I have been feeling the same way. But how do you pick colors for your interiors? Usually I hit up the local paint store and stare at swatches until I can’t tell one from the other. This year I’m getting inspired. My hubby and I agreed on muted tones, specifically a cream color, this way the walls wouldn’t feel like they needed a change so quickly every year. But how do you know which cream to go with? Are we talking about the same cream? The cream I have in mind has a tint of brown in it like a cup of coffee. Maybe the color he has in mind is a cream with a tint of orange in it like a soft sorbet. Or maybe it’s a cream color with a tint of yellow ochre in it much like a rich butter-cream frosting.
So, I’ve come up with a solution! Most likely you already own something with that color. Which is even better because then you are automatically matching room decor items to your wall palette. I walked around the apartment and took photos of items that included colors I liked for ideas on a new palette. But, maybe you don’t own anything colorful…well, get out of the house and window shop, you can even take pictures with your phone. If you really like a color buy a small item with that color on it! Here’s what I found today.
These are super cool. I requested a sample pack with some of my work on it, which by the way is free to do. They look so neat! In addition, they fit in your wallet, unlike most other card suppliers. Also, you can have up to 50 images of your product or just stuff showing who you are on the front. I’m ordering a real set soon. (When you buy a set the mini moo tag will not be on your card)
I am totally inspired by Lotta Jansdotter. Hearing her story makes me wish they offered textile classes here like they do in Sweden. I would love to take a class next time I’m in a major awesome city. So, I looked up her books and some youtube videos and pieced it together. I am currently working on stencils for Lemons in Love. All I need is a sewing machine!

I love it when I get featured on ETSY! Today it is my yummy cupcake painting! Check it out.
Here is a sneek peek…
After getting my hands on the details of how Cafepress works, I decided to drop them. There are too many technicalities involved. It is free but you only get a 10% commission on your sales. I can do better than that locally. Plus it doesn’t look like they credit you much unless you count paying your taxes. You can get credit where it’s due if you pay for a store. I’d rather build product at home.
Oddly enough, the process was worth it because I came up with a sweet brand name or theme, whatever you would like to call it and I’m going with it. “Lemons in Love” Man that looks cool! I’m keeping it.
Has anyone used cafepress.com before? I think I looked it up before but it is so cool now. The designs are customizable and they look pretty cool. They set up a shop for free and they don’t make the product unless someone buys it! I think you make a profit…I haven’t gotten that far yet. I’ll let you know when it’s up and running. People are always asking me when I will be selling prints. Now, I can offer actual products too. Plus, I can manage it from home when the boys are sleeping! No more running around town. Yay! My shop is called Lemons in Love.
